The subject is designed to cater for a range of post-secondary situations including direct entry to the work force and some forms of vocational training, but mainly to satisfy prerequisites for some tertiary courses.

Queensland Certificate of Education
To get a QCE, there is a numeracy requirement and one of these is needed:

at least a Sound Level of Achievement in a semester of Maths A or Maths B or Maths C or Pre-vocational Maths; or
-
at least a C on the Queensland Core Skills Test
Note: A semester unit of Pre-vocational Maths will be offered in the first half of both years 11 and 12 in “Senior Studies”.
